Remove the background from an iPhone HEIC
Drop the .heic from Files or Photos. nobg decodes it in this tab, cuts the subject, and saves PNG. You do not need to convert to JPEG first.

Why HEIC trips other removers
iPhones store camera originals as HEIC/HEIF. Many web removers only accept JPEG or PNG, so people recompress in Photos and lose detail before the cut. nobg decodes HEIC on the device with heic-to, then runs the same local model. Export is PNG, which every listing tool can open.
Keep the original, not the share sheet JPEG
AirDrop or Files → the .heic. A WhatsApp forward is already smaller and softer.
Live Photos
nobg uses the still. It does not extract the video companion. Still is enough for a cutout.
Portrait-mode depth
The baked blur is in the pixels. The remover still has to separate subject from that blur. A wider, sharper capture mattes more cleanly than a heavy fake bokeh.
From Camera Roll to PNG
Safari or desktop. The decode happens here.
Share the HEIC, not a screenshot
On iPhone, share the photo into the browser download/Files, or open this page in Safari and pick the image.
Let the tab read it
First open may take a moment while the decoder and model warm up. Later photos are faster.
Download for every other app
Shops, Canva, and Printers want PNG or JPEG. You already have PNG.
Inspect cutout edges
Slide the divider to compare the original photo with the cutout.

Frequently asked questions
My computer cannot open HEIC in Preview - can nobg?▼
If the browser can decode it through nobg’s HEIC path, yes. If a file is damaged or a rare HEIF profile, convert once in Photos and retry.
ProRAW?▼
Use the HEIC/JPEG companion or export a JPEG from Photos. Raw DNG is not a listed input.
Does the photo go to Apple or to nobg’s servers?▼
Neither. Decode and cut are in this tab.
Android?▼
JPEG and WebP are fine. HEIC is there for iPhone originals; it also works if you have HEIC from somewhere else.
